Mid America Motorworks Plans Time Capsule for Corvette’s 100th Anniversary in 2053

How would you like to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Corvette?

Even though that very special occasion is still 40 years away, Mid America Motorworks is thinking ahead and asking Corvette enthusiasts now to share their unique memorabilia with them that will be placed in a time capsule to be sealed in September as the company marks the 60th anniversary of America’s Sports Car.

Mid America will be displaying the collected memorabilia during its Corvette Funfest 2012 to be held September 13-16 at the corporate campus in Effingham, Illinois. The collection will be placed in a time capsule on site and placed in an exhibition monument at Funfest that will be opened in 2053.

Even if you don’t think you’ll be around for the 100th anniversary, Mid America encourages you to consider donating some of your rarest Corvette items, including key chains, artifacts, model cars, owner’s manuals, posters, vintage brochures, pictures with Corvettes, and your predictions or drawings of the Corvettes of the future. Can you imagine what the 2053 Corvette might be like? Wow!

If you want to be considered, send an e-mail to timecapsule@mamotorworks.com with your name, contact information, and brief description of your items, including dimensions and images. Selections will be announced at the end of August.

“With this time capsule, we are stealing from the future while honoring the Corvettes of the current and past generations,” said Mike Yager, Chief Cheerleader of Mid America Motorworks. “This celebration represents the significance Corvettes have played in each of our lives. We want the fans that made the brand what it is today to really feel they are a part of the centennial anniversary, even if they won’t be around for it.”
