A garage fire in the North Side Andersonville neighborhood late Tuesday was quickly extinguished after spreading to five neighboring garages, but not before badly damaging some vehicles, include a vintage Corvette and an SUV.

No one was injured in the fire that originated in a garage in the 1600 block of West Berwyn Avenue about 11:45 p.m., police said. The fire spread to five other garages before it was quickly extinguished.

Four lines were used to put out the flames, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The garage where the fire began, along with a vehicle and a lawnmower, were completely destroyed. Also damaged in one of the garages was an SUV and a 1975 Corvette Stingray.

The police Bomb Arson Unit was investigating to determine if the fire was suspicious in nature, and as of about 10 a.m. Wednesday the fire remained under investigation.
