Beautiful, frame off restoration with rare factory air conditioning!
When the ’65 Corvette was introduced, it was a game-changer for two reasons. One was for going; the 396 big block engine. The other for slowing; 4-wheel disc brakes! Both of these items helped further propel Corvette onto world-class sports car status!
There were many engine options in ’65. In addition to the brand new 396ci big block, there were no less than 5 small blocks to choose from. A base 250hp all the way up to a 375hp solid lifter Fuelie!
But, the Silver Bullet featured here has one of the best combinations of performance and handling ever offered on a Corvette back in the day. The L79 327ci small-block produced 350hp with hydraulic lifters and it was a sweet little engine. You got great performance with low maintenance. What could be better? Well, how about air conditioning? Yes, that was a rare option and this ’65 has it!
In addition to a/c, it also has power steering, power windows, leather seats, teak/tele steering wheel, am/fm radio w/power antenna, both soft and hard tops and Gold line tires. The car has had an impressive collector/owner history and is very correct. It features a matching #’s engine and it’s been completely framed off restored! Everything works. Including the clock!
And that restoration paid off, as it has been the recipient of two N.C.R.S. Top Flight Awards and a Blooming Gold! To top it off, the car is nicely documented with a Protect-O-Plate and various other docs. It also happens to be a fantastic driver! It goes down the road straight as an arrow, even with bias ply tires! This is a Corvette to be driven and enjoyed, as well as shown. And you’ll want to do both!
