Auction, bike tour for charitable causes at Road America

Friday night could also be called “philanthropy night” at this weekend’s American Le Mans Series event at Elkhart Lake’s Road America.

To kick off the festivities, Corvette Racing and No. 3 crew chief Dan Binks will host an auction to benefit Camp Anokijig, a youth summer camp located in Plymouth, Wis. just north of the track. It will be held 5 p.m. Friday night at the Corvette Corral at the track.

Items up for auction include old bodywork, parts, pieces and other Le Mans miscellaneous things. The camp’s website is at www.anokijig.com, with more information available on Twitter at @anokijig, @CorvetteRacing, and @DanBinksRacing.

Following that, Friday night also plays host to the annual Tour de Road America bike ride around the track, and that kicks off at 6:45 p.m. The official name – SUBARU tour de Road America – BIKE RIDE TO FIGHT CANCER – is set to ride in support of LIVESTRONG, the Austin Hatcher Foundation, and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic and the millions of people whose lives are affected by cancer. The goal for the tour is to raise at least $25,000. More information on this can be found at www.pelotonride.org.
