Winner of classic Corvette drives from New York to Indiana to claim his prize

The winner of the 24th Annual Classic Corvette Giveaway benefiting Saint Bernard Parish and School in Rockport, Indiana drove 1,360 miles round-trip from New York to Indiana to claim his prize; a 1966 Corvette Convertible valued at $80,000.00.

Edward Ess of Batavia, NY along with a good friend arrived in Rockport Wednesday morning, July 12, 2012 pulling a car hauler. “I’m still in shock and I don’t know what to say”, said Ess. “This is a beautiful Corvette, a very nice restoration. I’m going to enjoy this for many years.” Ess’s name was drawn at the conclusion of the Saint Bernard Summer Social on Sunday, July 8.

Ess is a true Corvette enthusiast, owning over 40 Corvettes in his lifetime. This is the first one he has ever won. After a tour of the church and a few photos and videos, Ess took a test drive through the streets of Rockport before loading his prize on the trailer for the trip back to New York.
