With epic races on the American Le Mans Series schedule such as the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans, it’s easy to forget about the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, a race that lasts for a mere two hours and 45 minutes — a sprint in comparison to the likes of Sebring. And this fast and heavy circuit, Corvette Racing managed second and third place behind Porsche. It’s the team’s best result at Lime Rock Park since 2008 in the super-competitive GT class, and the fourth consecutive podium finish in the series and extending their lead in the GT championship.
Finishing in second place was the duo of Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia in the No. 3 Corvette C6.R, while Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner were third in the No. 4 Corvette C6.R. It was Jörg Bergmeister and Patrick Long who secured victory in the Porsche. But as far as the point standings are concerned, Gavin and Milner are perched on top with 59 points each, while Corvette Racing leads the team points category.
The next event for the team is the Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada on Sunday, July 22.
