2020 Corvette C8 First Deliveries To Start Before End Of February – Thundering Thursday

In a press release regarding the recent sale of VIN #0001 C8 for $3,000,000 at Barrett Jackson, Chevrolet revealed that the first customer cars will be delivered before the end of February.

“Corvette coupe production will begin at GM’s Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky in early February, with customer deliveries slated to begin before the end of February,” the statement reads. Requests for a more specific date on when the first C8 will be delivered were declined.

Chevrolet has revealed the EPA fuel-economy numbers for the 2020 Corvette. The upcoming mid-engine Vette is rated at 15 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway, which compares favorably against competitors including the 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S and the outgoing C7.

“I’ve always been curious why the black with red interior color combination is in such high demand! It must be a couple of reasons; one being the fact that the red interior is extremely striking and works well with the ergonomic layout of the dash pads and the cockpit configuration. Black of course in the 60’s was a very rare color and seldom used. The numbers speak for themselves on how few black Corvettes they built between 1963 and 1969.

So, could it be the fact that the rarity of the black with the red interior makes it more desirable because so few of them were ever built? Or is it truly in the eyes of the beholder and desirable because it makes such a statement? You decide and now that there’s been a considerable price reduction from the owner this car is going bye-bye!”

This very sharp example came to us from a client who’s owned it for over 20 years. It’s been frame-on restored and features along with it’s very rare and sought after factory color combination, a matching #’s 390HP engine. Other options include the M-21 close-ratio transmission, a 3:70 Posi-traction differential, an AM/FM radio with electric antenna and (repro) knock-off wheels with Firestone radial tires.

Tuxedo Black w/Red interior, 427/390hp, 4-spd. manual transmission. The factory documented build date was March 17, 1966. All stampings and casting codes on the drive train support this date, as do the rest of the #’s.
