The Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance Celebrates 25 Years This August

tour d elegance 2

The Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance Presented by Rolex was instituted in 1998 as a way to counter the perception that concours cars were static museum pieces, also referred to as “trailer queens.” Now, the Tour is an integral part of the famed Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and a rare opportunity to see many of these beautiful cars in motion. The Tour begins in Pebble Beach with a drive down 17-Mile Drive passing in front of The Lodge, and then make their way down the Big Sur coastline and back, ending back in Pebble Beach. There is also a strong incentive for owners to take part. If two cars tie in class competition during the Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, and one car was part of the tour and the other was not, the tour car will win.

Vince S.’s 1995 Pace Car #296

Here is a picture of us with our 1995 Indy Pace Car #296 at a Corvette Show at the Saratoga (NY) Automobile Museum. We were just there recently for the “007 Bond in Motion Exhibit” with many of the James Bond movie cars as well as one of the submarines used in the movies, very cool!!!

This 1995 Corvette Indy Pace Car #296 was featured in four National Corvette Calendars!!! It was purchased new from the local Chevrolet Dealer. It has won numerous Corvette Show Awards as well as Best of Show! Always exciting to drive and gets a lot of attention!

Take care and thanks for the Corvette Mike Key Chain.

1967 L36 427/390hp Convertible
GM of Canada docs!
Rare big block automatic!

Rally Red w/Black interior, L36 427/390hp Powerglide automatic

The 2 owner 1967 featured here has a very interesting story (we all love a good Corvette story). Sold new in Victoria B.C. It is believed to be the very first Corvette sold in that province! And because it was a Canadian car, it comes with great GM of Canada docs, including Protect-O-Plate! It’s equipped with the L36 427 mated up to a Powerglide automatic, which makes it quite a rare piece!

The car has undergone a frame-on restoration, which included new paint, engine rebuild, exhaust, and much more. The result was rewarded with an N.C.R.S. Regional Top Flight Award on 10/22. Options include both tops (hard and soft), power 4-wheel disc brakes, power steering, telescoping steering column, and rebuilt factory am/fm radio! It’s a great driver and a Corvette you would enjoy driving daily, if desired.
